Hello,

I started this blog just for the hell of it after reading a few blogs from fellow cyclist friends of mine. Their blogs got me interested in what I might have to say and how often I might say it. These posts will not be strictly about cycling, that was just a title for the blog that came to mind as I was filling out the necessary info......I might change it later. Some of my interests that might get written about on this blog are in no particular order....Cycling, Photography, Food, Working Out ( as opposed to cycling), movies, & trips that I have taken or might take in the future.
Thanks for checking in. If I write something you don't agree with, that's okay. These are my thoughts, not yours.

WORKOUT

SUFFERBITCH

That's what this workout should be called. I use videos form Sufferfest for training on my indoor trainer and occasionally I adapt them to other pieces of exercise equipment. This time it was a 2 hour workout using the workouts " Fight Club" & " Downward Spiral" on the stair master and the elliptical. One hour on each. This is a new take on a challenge that the creator put out a little over a year ago to start the new year by completing these two workouts on NY Day 2010. If you want a great workout check out the website. www.thesufferfest.com . I am not a sales person for this sight, just passing on some good info. I have been using the videos since mid 2009 and love them.

BOING BOING BOING

OUCH

Had a $2700 check bounce for some photography that I did last year. Did I say ouch already. It is working out in the end. Got a hold of the company and they are re-issueing a new check that will be here Friday. It really sucks though when you go out of town and expect to have money in the bank and when you stop for gas the ATM says that you are $1700 in the hole. Damn good thing I take cash with me for spending whenever I travel. It's partially my fault since I hold checks for a while until I actually need the cash. Like now when I am not working. But the check did not have an expiration date on it and the compnay is still successfully in business. The funny part is that While I was driving around North County San Diego a rep from the same company called and asked me to do some work for them in April.

This is just a quick sample of the kind of stuff I do for money

NORTH COUNTY

There are two really important reasons I go to North County San Diego. First, that is where one of my oldest and best friends (Maryann) and her husband (Joe) live. They are great people. And fun. Secondly, "Honey's". This is a diner located on HWY 101 in Encinitas California. I have been going to this restaurant for at least 6 years now. Awesome breakfast. Great food, 12 types of coffee ready for serving, and typically great San Diego weather. This place is fantastic and I couldn't recommend it more if they were paying me to say this. If you're there, go. You will not regret it.

Just a few snaps from Honey's

REST

I didn't do a whole lot while I was in San Diego. But that was more or less by design. I needed to get away and rest a little. Wish I could have stayed 2-3 weeks. Had to get back to the dogs though. It just seems as though everybody is always so active down there. I love to just drive down the 101 and watch people ride, run, & walk there day away. I have ridden my bicycle in this area last year on a 50 plus mile ride and it is great.

I thought the way that the sand reacted around the various rocks as it was going in and out with the tides was pretty cool and made a couple of cool photos while I was walking on the beach. I could have, and probably will go back to do so, just stayed hours and shot different sand formations/colorations.

BIRDS GO TO HAWAII TOMORROW

5AM

That's when I have to have the birds at the airport to make their trip to Hawaii. Not getting much sleep tonight. Still not sure if I am going to Hawaii or not. I am supposed to go Thursday and the company I am doing this for still has not made a decision. They will probably call me Thursday morning and say " here's when your flight leaves". Genius' one and all. If I don't go to Hawaii I am going to spend a couple extra days in San Diego visiting a great friend.

BACK IT UP

When did it become "in fashion" to back your vehicle into your parking spot. I just don't get it. Is it because they think it will  be easier to pull their vehicle out of the spot. I used to have a Toyota Tundra with an 8ft bed and I never backed into a spot if it wasn't at a loading dock to aid in unloading whatever I was carrying. If you can't drive the vehicle you own get a smaller one.

MUSIC

Remember when Best Buy actually carried CD's in their store. Or better yet, when there actually were "record" stores that sold music directly to you. Just another victim of the electronic age of the internet. I actually like going into a store to see what's new and to wander thru the stacks.

G.G.

My big dog, G.G., has spent the better part of the last 4 hours laying outside of the bedroom door that has the parrots locked behind it. She is not sure what is in that room but she knows that something is in there. She knows for two reasons. One, the door to that room is closed and it is never closed so there must be something in that room. And two, she either smells them or they are making a little noise that her ears can pick up on. The other dog couldn't care less and that is actually her room where she goes to hide and crawl under the covers.

LET"S GO DISC

I think that I might go try my hand at Disc Golf again tomorrow after  I drop off the birds, pick up the cages, and go for a workout. Maybe I will be able to partake somewhere around 2pm.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY

DID SOMETHING NEW TODAY

I was invited to go play Disc Golf today. That was a lot of fun. Great weather. Almost 70 degrees in February. Definitely something I want to do again. Gotta thank my friend Cameron for the invite.

JUST A FEW THOUGHTS

HMMMMMMM

I was riding my motorcycle on the way to putting in some apps in hopes of finding a new  job and saw a couple of interesting sights.

1. A guy in a caddy was stopped in a right turn lane to let some one out, oblivious to the cars honking at him, and I noticed his license plate.......BOOTSE....Now I know it sounds racist but I don't mean as such but there was a white guy driving that car. It just struck me as an odd coming together of images

2. A guy riding a bicycle while having a walker strapped to his back. Just strange to see....if he was able to ride a bike wouldn't he be able to walk....maybe it was for some one else

NOT A GOOD CHOICE

60 OUNCES

Maybe drinking 3 very large cups of coffee last night was not the best move. No, the headache didn't come back. But I was still staring at my tv until after 5am. And I woke up at about 9:30 so I am a little tired today. I still have to figure out how to get a workout in when I don't feel that motivated. I am thinking that a nap may be the fix for this problem. I may run to "wally" world and do a little shopping and then come home to lay down for a couple of hours before getting on the bike or heading to the gym tonight.

    The coffee was good though.

5 GOOD HOURS

IN THE RAW

I think that is the name of the William Shatner interview show on A&E. I was watching tv this afternoon and this show came on the tube. I have seen it before and I have found it very entertaining. I started to watch it today and I had to almost immediately change the channel. He  was interviewing Mary Kay Letourneau and her boyfriend/husband. You know, the boy she fell in love with when he was 13 years old and she was his teacher. I find her to be a pretty sick individual who appears as though she has a few mental deficiencies (not just having sex with a 13 year old). What made me turn off the tv (without even hearing the answer to the question) was the very question that Shatner asked her. His first question was like "what was she thinking when she first saw the 13 year old for the very first time?". It seemed way to salacious for my taste.

4 WHEELS & A BOARD

I was on my way out to Red Rock Canyon yesterday when I saw a pretty cool/weird sight. There were tow young men, skateboards in hand exiting from the Calico Basin area. It made me wonder weather they had rode their boards all the way out there, or drove a car out there and just rode around the area. If they rode their boards out there that would mean they went at the least 7 miles, all uphill, to get to that location. Pretty impressive. That's a tough ride on two wheels with gears.

FOUND A CURE

I drove over to my brother's house today to drop off a photo I made for him and his wife. On the way back I developed a screamer of a headache. I chalked it up to a severe lack of caffeine (none in the last two days) and not eating enough. So I went to Barnes & Noble order a very large cup of coffee and a bagel. Within about 15 minutes that headache had begun to recede. I proceeded to spend the better part of the next 5 hours reading and drinking coffee. I know it sounds aas though those two things should be exactly opposite of what you should do when suffering from what feels like a migraine but it worked fantastically. Maybe after all of these years of Diet Coke I actually have a caffeine addiction/habituation.

AWESOME BOOK

As I stated above I spent almost 5 hours in the bookstore reading today. Something I have definitely never done before. The object of my affection? A great book that I started to read thru the other day. Born To Run by Christopher McDougall. I was hooked after the first 30 or so pages I read then. When I went to the store today I had intentions of reading for an hour in this book and then about an hour in "My Life" by Bill Clinton. After the first hour of Born to Run I went and found the hard copy on the shelf and continued to read. At some point I had reached a decision point. Should I keep reading  or come back and finish another day. I kept reading. The book is a story of the Tarahumara Indians of the Copper Canyon region in Mexico. These guys are amazing long distance runners and the story about them was equally amazing. The book was mixed with stories of the Tarahumara, the races they run, history of how mankind was designed to run, shoeless running, and a great character that is dubbed the Caballo Blanco. IF you are a runner now, ever have been, or aspire to be a runner read this book.

SSSHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I know bookstores are not libraries but I treat them as such and as a result I expect others to do so also. I go to the store to read not talk. So it really bugs me when a group of dip shits sits directly behind me and spends the next hour just talking. Thank God I had my headphones and could turn on Pandora on my E-reader.

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY

CALICO TANKS

Decided to go for a hike in Red Rock Canyon today instead of sitting around watching the Superbowl. It felt great to get out of the house. Saw quite a few  runners, bikers, and fellow hikers. It was a beautiful day for a hike. It always amazes me the amount of things you can see and do just a short trip from the strip that the tourists never experience. Thank god there aren't any slot machines in Red Rock or we'd never get the tourists out of their and the place would be trashed. Didn't get back until almost the end of the 2nd quarter of the game. Didn't miss much.

NO MORE WORK

THE BIRDS ARE GONE

I took the macaws to the vets office today so that they can sit out there mandatory quarantine before they go to Hawaii. It was both fun and trying to work with these animals. You know what W.C. Fields said...."don't work with kids or animals". Hopefully they will fair well in their new environ and they will be well taken care of by the people in Hawaii.

DR. TYSON

Just watch and episode of Real Time with Bill Maher. He had a guest who was phenomenal. Dr. Neil de Grasse Tyson. He is an astrophysicist and this guy is smart. He makes you want to learn more about the scientific nature of the world and universe. I am thinking that he would be a great person to take a class from.

IF

I heard some where on TV that women can have orgasms from food. I have a thought. How about while having sex we just give our woman a piece of chocolate cake. At least then she won't be faking.

NEW BOOKS

Started two new books this week. "My Life" by Bill Clinton &"Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall. They seem to be very interesting so far. Just finished "Mr. Monster" by Dan Wells. A light entertaining read. There will be more in this series and I will definitely want to read those.
